Each year, the Board of Directors of FISA elects the recipients of awards and special prizes in the field of Aerophilately and Astrophilately. These awards and special prizes are granted to the selected persons during the Annual General Meeting.
The F.I.S.A. Medal
It may be awarded once a year, at the AGM, to one or two persons for outstanding contributions to Aerophilately and/or Astrophilately. The silver gilt (vermeil) medal shows the FISA emblem with the reverse carrying the engraved name of the recipient and the year of presentation. It is accompanied by a certificate. The granting of the award is decided by the Directorate by a simple majority. The President retains the casting vote in case of a tie.
The FI.S.A. Golden Pin
The Gold FISA pin is presented for meritorious and distinguished service to FISA. It represents the FISA emblem in solid 14 carat gold. The granting of the award is decided by the Directorate by a simple majority vote. The President retains the casting vote in case of a tie.
The F.I.S.A. Literature Award

Their presentation takes place at the Congress. The recipient(s) must have distinguished themselves in the field of aero- or astrophilatelic literature. The medal for literature will be inscribed 'Literature'. The medal bears the name of the recipient and the year of presentation engraved on the reverse. It is accompanied by a certificate.
The granting of the award is decided by the Directorate by a simple majority vote. The President retains the casting vote in case of parity.
The F.I.S.A. Plate

The FISA plate is made of white porcelain by Delft, Holland. The size is 21 cm diameter and shows the FISA emblem in blue. It is presented by the President to persons to whom FISA wishes to show its special appreciation.
The F.I.S.A. Diplome

The FISA diploma is a document signed, whenever possible, by all members of the Directorate. It is presented to persons to whom FISA wishes to show its appreciation. The right of nomination of a recipient or recipients is vested in every member of the Directorate. This right can be further vested in a person outside the Federation such as an organizer of an exhibition or president of a jury.
The F.I.S.A. - Kubilanski Award

This award is intended to support and reward mature research and writing on aero- and astrophilatelic subjects. The granting of the award is subject to the candidate fulfilling the following conditions :
  1. the author must be a member of one of the clubs belonging to FISA
  2. the work must be rendered in German, English or French language
  3. the work (whether already published or in manuscript stage) is not returnable and will remain in FISA archives
  4. the FISA Directorate will consider the merits of the work submitted at its next meeting following the submission. The following criteria will be taken into consideration : - the importance of the work to are- and astrophilately - the context and scope of the study - the completeness of the approach of the theme - the depth of author's individual research
  5. the decision of the Directorate will be announced at the Congress. It is final and cannot be challenged.

The work with an appropriate letter of application should be lodged with the office of FISA's Secretary General.


The F.I.S.A. Special Award

Special prizes of FISA are foreseen for exhibitors in aerophilatelic and astrophilatelic classes or for any person deserving special appreciation.

They are of two kinds :

  • Prizes donated by an individual and awarded in accordance with the donors instructions which have to be approved by the Directorate.
  • Prizes for which an application must be made to the President or the Secretary General, the allotment of which must follow the instructions of the Directorate.
